Impact Housing (IH) is a vertically integrated modular design-builder and developer headquartered in Southern California.
Our mission is to continuously evolve the world's most sophisticated and efficient housing delivery system. We pursue this mission by reimagining every element of how multifamily projects are designed, manufactured, and built-driving down costs, shortening schedules, and expanding access to high-quality housing for the people who need it most, whether through LIHTC or unsubsidized projects.
To date this decade, the IH team has built or is actively developing close to 1,500 modular units demonstrating a scalable, repeatable path to affordability. With the capability to produce approximately 1,000 units per year today, IH is expanding to meet growing demand in San Diego, Los Angeles, and beyond.
We are now entering the next stage of our growth and strengthening every team across the company to achieve our next set of goals. We plan to manufacture and build more than 10,000 units through 2030. To accomplish this, we are implementing the Lean Standard Model company-wide; deploying AI at every level of the company; and positioning IH as a national thought leader in modular development.

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Project Engineer assists in office and field engineering activities and provides the support required to obtain, evaluate, coordinate, distribute, and record information and obtain all authorizations needed to construct the project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with the Project Manager to establish procedures for information flow, approvals, meetings, reporting, applications for payment, etc., among the design professionals, consultants and owner.
  • Work with the Project Superintendent to establish procedures with subcontractors and suppliers for information flow, approvals, meetings, reporting, applications for payment, etc.
  • Assists the Project Manager to ensure timely buyouts and overall compliance with schedule requirements.
  • Assists the Project Manager in the administration of change orders.
  • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records.
  • Assist in preparing various studies, recommendations or materials and methods, and cost estimates during project development.
  • Assist the project team in examining all documents for constructability, seeking out suspected design deficiencies, impractical details and code violations. Bring all concerns to the attention of the project team for resolution.
  • Assist with the project close-out, including processing of all guarantees, acceptance of work, final payment and records retention.
  • Quality control and project closeout
  • Implement all applicable safety programs on project

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years in commercial and podium multi-family construction required. Modular experience is a plus!
  • General knowledge of construction principles/practices required
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of San Diego trades and permit process a plus
  • Solid computer skills, with a working knowledge of MS Office. Smartsheet and Acumatica a plus

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
