About Mercedes-Benz Stadium

As the new home of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United, Mercedes-Benz Stadium will open in 2017. The stadium will also host numerous other sports and entertainment events. The multi-purpose venue will feature flexible capacity that can expand to up to 75,000 seats; a retractable roof structure inspired by the oculus in the ancient Rome Pantheon; views of the Atlanta skyline; a 360-degree HD video halo board that, at nearly six stories tall and 1,100 linear feet in diameter, will be the largest in the world and a technology lounge offering a unique game day experience full of media content and full game immersion. Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a member of AMB Sports & Entertainment, which also includes the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United.

Position Summary

Assist the Stadium Operations Department with the coordination and management of Capital Improvement and Large Repair & Maintenance (R&M) Projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

Assist Stadium Operations Department with the coordination of Capital Improvement and Repair & Maintenance (R&M) projects of all sizes, as assigned:

  • Develop budgets and estimate accurate project costs

  • Administer projects during entire lifecycle from design concept through completion;

    • Work with design engineers or architects as necessary, required, or assigned;

    • Develop detailed written scopes of work and request for proposals (RFP's) on behalf of MBS;

    • Develop detailed MOP's (method of procedures) for critical system projects, when required;

    • Coordinate and conduct pre-bid walk-through's as necessary or required, dictated by size of project;

    • Manage the bid tab, award, & procurement (P.O.) process;

    • Provide construction progress logs and status reports on a regular basis;

    • Coordinate all project elements; sub-contracts, change orders, inspections, permits, certificates of insurance, etc.;

    • Open and close jobs daily; coordinate activities with contractors and stadium security.

    • Lead multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high efficiency and tight deadlines when balanced against a highly demanding events schedule.

    • Review and manage project schedules; coordinate with stadium event schedule through Events Manager to ensure there are no conflicts

    • Proactively identify, assess, and resolve project risks and issues to keep the project on schedule and within budget.

    • Manage, prepare, revise stadium AutoCAD files

  • Maintain and update stadium drawings to streamline special event bid processes and support others with their drawing requests

  • Collect, assemble, organize and file close-out documents for each R&M or Capital Improvement Project:

  • Submittals and shop drawings; O&M Manuals; finish schedules, samples, technical documents; warranties; as-built drawings; CAD's or other relevant drawing files

  • Coordinate R&M and Capital Improvement file management and/or recordkeeping activities:

  • Work seamlessly within Project Management software system to ensure real-time recordkeeping and collaboration among project team.

  • Maintain a master file for each Capital Improvement Project that contains the following:

    • Copies of RFP's, Bid Tabs; Certificates of insurance for G.C. and all related sub-contractors; all related purchase orders; all related change order requests and/or approvals; approved requests for payments; all related invoices; and any other relevant project data to assemble a complete project file.

  • Contribute to the success of the Stadium Operations Department:

  • Assist in preparation of 5-Year Capital budgets and future R&M and Capital Improvement Projects, working with Engineering, Conversions, Grounds, Sustainability, and Housekeeping

  • Assists with outside department measurement requests, as needed.

  • Assist as necessary or required on event days, such as professional football, soccer, concerts, lacrosse, college football, etc.

  • Assists with ice & snow management activities, when required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum B.A. degree with concentration in project or construction management.

  • 1-3 years project management experience in a building or project over 1 million square feet.

  • In-depth working knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit/BIM, CAD Certification is advantageous

  • In depth knowledge of commonly used construction terms, materials, procedures, and concepts.

  • Requires familiarity with IBC (international building code); NEC (national electric code) and NFPA (national fire protection association) standards.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; experience with MS Project; knowledge of Gantt charts is a must.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to adequately present concepts and projects in meetings, presentations, and walkthroughs with external stakeholders.

  • Proven ability of strong organizational and time-management strategies to balance competing priorities around a high-demanding event schedule.

  • Team player who can build lasting, productive relationships with coworkers and third-party contractors.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
