Job description

Assistant Project Manager – Commercial Construction

Jupiter / Palm Beach County, FL

Full-Time | Commercial General Contractor

Ready to take the next step in your construction career?

We are representing an established and growing South Florida General Contractor looking to add an Assistant Project Manager to its team in Palm Beach County.

This is not a role where you'll spend the next three years simply processing paperwork.

You'll work directly alongside experienced Project Managers, Superintendents and senior leadership, gaining hands-on exposure to commercial projects from preconstruction through final closeout – with a clear opportunity to develop into a Project Manager.

The Opportunity

As Assistant Project Manager, you'll be involved in the day-to-day management and delivery of commercial construction projects across South Florida.

You'll have exposure to the full project lifecycle and gradually take on greater responsibility as you develop.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the management of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Managing RFIs, submittals and project documentation
  • Assisting with subcontractor procurement and buyout
  • Preparing and tracking change orders
  • Supporting project budgets, cost reports and forecasting
  • Coordinating with Superintendents and field teams
  • Communicating with subcontractors, architects, consultants and clients
  • Assisting with project schedules and progress meetings
  • Tracking procurement and long-lead items
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and subcontractor scopes
  • Supporting project closeout and turnover
  • Taking on increasing project responsibility as you progress

Who We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with ambitious construction professionals who want to build a long-term career in Project Management.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • 2+ years of commercial construction experience
  • Experience with a General Contractor
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer or Project Coordinator
  • Understanding of RFIs, submittals, change orders and construction documentation
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • The confidence to work with both field and office teams
  • A genuine desire to progress into a Project Manager position

Ground-up commercial construction experience is highly desirable.

Experience within healthcare, medical, institutional or technically complex commercial construction would also be particularly attractive.

Why Consider It?

The biggest selling point is progression.

You'll be joining a contractor where you'll have direct exposure to experienced construction professionals and the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility rather than getting lost inside a huge corporate structure.

For someone who has already built the foundations of their construction career and now wants the opportunity to become a Project Manager, this could be an excellent next move.

You'll receive a competitive salary and benefits package based on experience, alongside genuine opportunities for long-term career development.

If you're an Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer in South Florida and feel ready for more responsibility, apply today for a confidential conversation.

All applications and conversations will be treated confidentially.
