Exterior Wall & Building Consultants, Inc. (EWBC) is a specialty contractor providing construction labor, carpentry, project management, and specialty contracting services throughout the New York metropolitan area. We partner with many of the region's leading owners, developers, construction managers, and general contractors on commercial, residential, institutional, and infrastructure projects.

We are seeking an organized, motivated, and driven Project Engineer to join our growing operations team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience in construction operations while working directly with senior management and field personnel. The ideal candidate is looking to build a long-term career with a company that promotes from within.

Position Summary

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the day to day operations of multiple active construction projects. This role combines project coordination, labor management, payroll administration, billing support, field operations, and client communication to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and profitably.

The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, clients, and the accounting department while gaining exposure to all aspects of construction management.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily labor assignments with Project Managers and field supervision.
  • Prepare and maintain manpower reports, labor tracking logs, and daily work reports.
  • Process weekly payroll by reviewing timecards, labor hours, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
  • Assist in preparing client billings, invoices, payment applications, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and assist with collections by coordinating directly with clients regarding outstanding invoices.
  • Assist in preparing change orders, time and material tickets, and supporting cost documentation.
  • Monitor labor productivity and compare production against project budgets.
  • Assist with project scheduling and manpower planning.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, site access, and project logistics.
  • Track project costs and assist Project Managers with budget reporting.
  • Maintain project documentation, daily reports, meeting minutes, and photographic records.
  • Ensure employee certifications, safety documentation, and project records remain current and compliant.
  • Participate in site safety walkthroughs and assist with documenting corrective actions.
  • Coordinate communication between field personnel, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and project management software to maintain project records and track progress.
  • Assist with project closeout documentation and final project deliverables.
  • Support Project Managers with all aspects of project administration as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business Management, or a related field preferred.
  • One to three years of construction or project management experience preferred. Strong entry level candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the New York City metropolitan area.
