Job description

Role Overview

We are supporting a leading national General Contractor that is actively expanding its Mission Critical/Data Center division and seeking an MEP Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to join its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious construction professional looking to work on some of the most complex and technically demanding projects in North America. The successful candidate will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of large-scale data center projects while working alongside experienced Project Managers, Superintendents, and MEP leaders.

While data center experience is highly desirable, candidates with strong MEP backgrounds from commercial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or mission-critical construction will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the management and coordination of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection scopes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with subcontractor coordination, procurement tracking, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Monitor project schedules and assist in driving key project milestones.
  • Coordinate with field teams, consultants, commissioning agents, and trade partners.
  • Support quality control, commissioning, startup, and turnover activities.
  • Attend project meetings and provide regular progress updates.
  • Assist in resolving design, coordination, and construction challenges.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure successful project execution.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience working on MEP construction projects as an Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Coordinator, or similar role.
  • Data center experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of building systems and construction processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication, organization, and coordination skills.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate to project locations as required.
