Job description

Sedgman is currently recruiting for an experience, multifaceted Project Managerย with a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and effective communication to deliver global mining projects. They will be based out of our Vancouver office with occasional site work.ย 

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in developing and managing the construction phase of the project, including all activities at site, to ensure the project is completed safely, meets design criteria, in specification and is delivered on time, on budget, to achieve profit and commercial objectives. He/she will have direct experience in the mining & mineral industry, overseeing project planning, execution, and delivery.ย

Key Responsibilities include:ย 
  • Develop and oversee project plans, schedules, and budgets ensuring all aspects of the project are well-coordinated and aligned with company goals, project scope, and client requirements.

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables and ensure they are met throughout project lifecycle.

  • Coordinate and manage project teams, including engineers, contractors to ensure effective collaboration and communication.

  • Liaise with other business units as required in participating in design reviews, constructability reviews, resource/cost forecasts and to also provide meaningful feedback and recommendations on process improvements.

  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues.

  • Oversee onsite construction activities to ensure that projects are executed in accordance with plans, designs and specifications.

  • Lead constructability reviews for the design.

  • Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to keep project on track, within budget.

  • Establish & maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure transparency and support for the project.

  • Establish Project Controls KPI's with stakeholders and ensure periodic updates are implemented and reported based on Project specific schedules

  • Assist with the development, maintenance and tracking of project schedules.

  • Manage scope variations, ensuring approvals, documentation and cost impacts are controlled.

  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors to ensure safe, compliant and timely delivery of works.

  • Review and progress vendor and subcontractor documentation to prevent delays.

  • Conduct regular meetings to review and discuss project progress, addressing challenges, delays and adjusting plans as necessaryย 

  • Ensure all comply with safety and environmental regulations per Sedgman standards.

What are we looking for? Qualifications:ย 
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Process, Chemical, Metallurgy, Electrical or Civil)

  • Must have 10-15+ years of relevant experience in project delivery, engineering, project study delivery, and/or site operations/support (in mining & mineral processing)

  • Minimum of 2 years mining onsite experience in a Projects/Execution related role

  • Professional engineering designation is required - EGBC preferred.

  • Demonstrated success in managing projects in heavy industry, preferable in mining & minerals, is highly desired.ย 

  • Must have substantial site experience, being able to problem solve within the site environment.

  • Solid leadership, management and communication skills are required

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship

Salary Range:ย ย $180k-$230k
