Job description

We are SLR Consulting (Canada),an800+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 20+ office locations in Canada. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen.

As our new Project Controller, you will be responsible for supporting our project managers in overall financial control and scheduling related to a project or portfolio of projects. You will manage the financial health of the project, including invoicing, cost controls, change management, scheduling, and forecasting.

Success in this role will require strong familiarity with project management and documentation tools and processes, strong communication and organization skills, and the ability to effectively manage and coordinate activities for multiple projects and project managers.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain project control reports to support project management such as: Cost, Planning and Scheduling (WBS), Change Management, Risk, Project Cost Status, KPIs, etc.
  • Working with accounting/billing teams to ensure projects are set up correctly within Vantagepoint, including billing terms, WBS, etc.
  • Liaise between project managers, senior management, accounting, and clients on matters relating to cost control and progress reporting
  • Responsible for developing and implementing project controls standards, procedures, and work process, relating to scopes, documents, budget, and schedule
  • Responsible for preparing, monitoring, and reviewing reports related to cost (Labour/Expenses/Subcontractor), schedule, progress, budget, and forecast
  • Track and manage Contracts (Agreements, Change Orders, Purchase Orders, etc.), manage Client specific databases
  • Support Project Managers in the creation and evaluation of project/proposal cost estimates
  • Support Project Managers with project initiation and set up in Business Support Systems
  • Work with the Project Managers and the Accounting department to reconcile costs
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly spending, variance, and forecast summary reports

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar project coordination or controller role
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs including Excel, Word and MS Project
  • Experience with project cost controls and invoicing
  • Experience with Siteview, Equis, Deltek, and Adobe is an asset
  • Experience working in the environmental services industry is an asset
  • Excellent inter-personal and time management skills
  • Post-secondary education or demonstrated relevant experience
