Job description

We have an immediate opportunity for a Project Controls Specialist in the Pomona area. This position manages and oversees large, long range, or multiple complex projects and will develop project scope, cost estimates, work plans, and time schedules. This is a hybrid position which requires on site Monday and Tuesday.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project budgets/baselines, short- and long-term forecasts, and expenditure plans for electrical substation projects
  • Develop routine and complex reports to assist in cost monitoring and management
  • Assist in reviewing and reporting on cost over/underruns versus approved budget/forecast
  • Conduct cost assessments and provide variance explanation for changes in project scope, materials, and schedule
  • Ability to update change management tool based on impact analysis
  • Ability to ensure data’s accuracy with support documentation to support audits and management reviews
  • Responsible for coordinating inputs, deliverables, and timelines
  • Ability to support audits by providing documentation, data extracts, and evidence
  • Ability to support operational projects by tracking milestones, risk, and deliverables
  • Maintain project documentation and status reporting

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor of Science, Accounting or Finance
  • Project Management certificate desired
  • Experience with budget tracking, forecasting, accruals, and cost analysis
  • Three to five plus years of project management experience
  • Proficient with Advanced Excel skills, knowledge of PowerBI, Microsoft 365 application using Work, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Prior experience in cost controls with utility or construction management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
