Department Summary

College of Nursing joins UNT Health offering degree programs alongside: the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Health Professions and College of Pharmacy. The College of Nursing is addressing the shortage of nurses in Texas, which has the second-fewest nurses per capita in the U.S.

Position Overview

UNT Health College of Nursing is seeking applications for Assistant Professor of Nursing. The Assistant Professor will contribute to the academic mission of the College of Nursing by teaching, mentoring, and supporting undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. This role involves curriculum development, clinical instruction, scholarly engagement, and service to the college and community. The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in nursing education and student success, with a focus on preparing practice-ready graduates.
After Fall 2027, position will be based at the UNT Dallas location.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in nursing.
  • An active, unencumbered registered nursing license in the state of Texas or eligibility for licensure.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity in simulation-based instruction.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all colleagues and students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in nursing preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience in undergraduate nursing education.
  • A record of scholarly research and publication in nursing or related fields.
  • Experience in evidence-based simulation instruction and technologies.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

  • A Master's degree in nursing.
  • An active, unencumbered registered nursing license in the state of Texas or eligibility for licensure.

Job Duties

  • Teach undergraduate nursing courses in assigned areas of expertise, delivering engaging instruction in classroom, clinical, and simulation settings.
  • Develop and revise course materials aligned with AACN Essentials and TBON Differentiated Essential Competencies.
  • Integrate competency-based education and innovative pedagogical strategies.
  • Publish research and scholarship in peer-reviewed journals and present at professional conferences.

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • Lifting and Moving objects up to 50 pounds.
