Assistant/Associate Professor in Landscape Architecture Georgia Institute of Technology Georgia Institute of Technology

Atlanta, GA

The Georgia Institute of Technology School of Architecture invites applications for the inaugural holder of the Speedwell Foundation Landscape Architecture Professorship. This tenure-track appointment may be made at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank. We seek a candidate whose work engages the design of urban landscapes and systems and explores their integration with architecture and urban design.

The successful candidate will advance knowledge across the School’s degree programs by demonstrating how landscape architecture can creatively contribute to ecological resilience, environmental stewardship, and community well-being. Support from the Speedwell Foundation will provide resources to advance the faculty member’s research agenda and foster opportunities for graduate student research and mentorship.

In addition, the successful candidate will collaborate with the Chair of the School of Architecture and the Dean of the College of Design to help envision the future direction of the Master of Science in Urban Design program and strengthen its role within an evolving design and urbanization discourse.

Job Responsibilities

This is a full-time 9-month tenure-track appointment requiring residency in Atlanta, Georgia. Tenure on appointment will be considered for qualified candidates.

The responsibilities of the successful candidate include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Contribute to requireddesignstudio teaching across the School of Architecture\’s degree programs (BS Arch, MSUD, and M Arch),including core architecture design studios
  • Contribute to required history/theory classes, as needed
  • Offer elective seminars or workshops as needed on landscape architecture topics such as, but not limited to the following: design of urban parks, urban ecology, green infrastructure & hydrological systems, climate change adaptation, etc.
  • securing and conducting funded research and externally sponsored activities

This appointment is scheduled to begin in Fall 2027, with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2027.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have at least one degree in Architecture and the terminal degree of Master of Landscape Architecture, or greater. A doctoral degree is not required but is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate expertise and a strong record of publications, as well as demonstrated potential for securing sponsored research and excellence in teaching.
