Augusta University's College of Nursing invites applications for full-time, 12-month, faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. We are the state's flagship nursing program, enrolling more than 1000 students on two campuses and at numerous academic-practice partner sites. The College of Nursing, an integral component of the University System of Georgia is part of the state's only publicly-funded comprehensive academic health science center including schools of medicine, dentistry, and allied health sciences. The College of Nursing is adjacent to Wellstar Medical Center, Children's Hospital of Georgia, Georgia Cancer Center, and the Veterans Administration Medical Center, providing ample opportunity for clinical experiences for students and faculty. Additionally, the college has a thriving Nurse-Managed Health Center, affording additional clinical practice and teaching opportunities focused on primary care, telehealth, and behavioral health. The college offers a full degree spectrum including BSN, MSN, DNP, and PhD programs. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may vary by DNP concentration, expertise and academic rank.
  • Engage in didactic teaching in DNP core and/or concentration courses
  • Course coordination and evaluation
  • Partner with preceptors for student learning and evaluation
  • Participate in curricular development and evaluation
  • Participate on College of Nursing and university committees
  • Mentor students in DNP projects
  • Engage in scholarly activities (presentations and publications)
  • Other responsibilities may vary by DNP concentration

Required Qualifications
Doctorate degree relevant to the area of practice (PhD, DNP, DNAP). Active licensure to practice nursing in the state of Georgia or meet all eligibility requirements to apply for a nursing license in the state of Georgia. Board certification in area of specialty (CRNA). One-year experience as a full-time nurse anesthetist.
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member.
Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Academic teaching experience in didactic and clinical instruction in a nursing anesthesia program. Comfort with technology-infused engaging pedagogical strategies including simulation and other active learning modalities. Evidence of contribution to the profession and recognition at the local, regional, or national level. Evidence of scholarship through publication and/or professional presentations.

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
