Position Summary Information
Position Summary

The Department of Psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy seeks to fill a tenure-track position in school psychology beginning August 2021. The position is at the rank of Assistant Professor (although outstanding candidates at another rank may be considered).

The School Psychology Specialist Program is NASP-approved and is a verified course sequence program through ABAI. The program embraces a behavioral, scientist-practitioner orientation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

For this position, primary responsibility will be to the NASP-accredited School Psychology Specialist Program, though the successful applicant will be responsible for teaching courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels; developing a successful research program; advising undergraduate students; supervising student research; and engaging in service to the program, department, college, university, and profession.

Minimum Qualifications

- Doctorate in school psychology or a related field from an APA-accredited program
- Candidates should hold or be eligible for licensure/certification as a school psychologist in the state of Michigan
- Strong affinity for and ability to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Clear evidence of research productivity or potential
- Clear evidence of the capacity to direct undergraduate and specialist-level research projects as well as doctoral dissertations
- Commitment to cultural inclusion and diversity
- The area of specialty is open, but preference will be given to applicants with potential for teaching excellence across a wide range of psychology courses, particularly related to assessment, consultation, behavior analysis, mental health intervention, and multicultural competence

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Physical Requirements

Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).

Work Environment

Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
