Job description

Production Engineer / Production Supervisor

Location: Carol Stream, IL
Salary: $50,000–$70,000 per year

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Production Engineer / Production Supervisor to support manufacturing operations in Carol Stream, IL. This position is ideal for an engineering professional with hands-on production leadership experience who can bridge the gap between engineering, production, quality, and maintenance.


The ideal candidate will have an engineering degree and previous experience supervising production teams, improving processes, troubleshooting operational issues, and driving safety, quality, and productivity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
  • Lead, coach, and develop production employees and ensure proper staffing and workflow.
  • Monitor production performance, downtime, scrap, labor, and other key performance indicators.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Troubleshoot production and equipment issues and work closely with Maintenance and Engineering teams to resolve problems.
  • Develop and improve standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and root cause analysis.
  • Conduct investigations and implement corrective actions for production, quality, and safety issues.
  • Ensure employees follow company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Warehouse, and other departments to maintain smooth operations.
  • Assist with production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Train and mentor employees to improve performance and operational consistency.
  • Prepare production reports and communicate results and improvement opportunities to management.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Previous experience as a Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, Production Engineer, or similar leadership role.
  • Manufacturing experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead production employees and manage daily operations.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation, procedures, and production specifications.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with ERP/MRP or manufacturing systems is a plus.
