About Greenwood Court:
Greenwood Court is designed as a 'Community of Care' where seniors are able to age in place. As the needs of our seniors change, they have access to additional services and supports without having to leave familiar surroundings or newly developed friendships. Staff and volunteers are committed to making Greenwood Court "a place to call home" for its residents.

About the Position:

The Recreation Assistant will be an integral member of the Recreation Team. This position is responsible for but not limited to developing recreation plans, program implementation, facilitating celebration events, and all other duties related to the recreation programs at Greenwood Court. The position would be casual- coverage for vacation, sick time, and then on an "as needed" basis for special events or socials that require extra support. We are looking for candidates with a great attitude to join our team.

Wage:

$21.04 - $24.58 hourly

Qualifications:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Recreation and Leisure Studies or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Experience in the recreational field and working with seniors
  • Experience working with residents with dementia
  • Superior client relationship skills and passion for advocating for residents' rights and person-centred care
  • Experience in programming an asset
  • Strong organizational skill to plan, schedule and direct leisure activities and performance of recreation department
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Work effectively with team members and other departments in LTC and RH
  • Experience in planning and implementation of recreation calendar, programs and celebrations
  • Experience with MDS/RAI charting, Point Click Care assessments and recreation care plan development.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Strong management and supervisory skill
  • Experience planning, promotion and evaluation of recreation programs an asset
  • Experience in understanding Fixing Long Term Care Act/Regulation and RHRA compliance
  • Experience in evaluations of leisure needs for elderly

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effective customer service skills and a demonstrated commitment to working with seniors
  • Passion for working in long term care
  • Recreation programming knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills are an asset
