Job description

Immediate W2 contract position available in Montgomery, AL.
Estimated Duration: 1 year
Job Description / Desired Qualifications:

  • Engineers are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing protection and control systems.
  • These systems are used to monitor protection systems in power substations.
  • Engineers must have a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles as well as computer skills.
  • They use this knowledge to install, repair, and maintain protection and control systems that may include microprocessor relays, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, pumps, motors, etc.

Anticipated Assignment Schedule:

  • Ten hour days beginning at 6:30AM Monday - Thursday.
  • Overtime is possible and can be required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control relaying and associated devices
  • Perform calibration of various types of protection and control relays and devices
  • Assist in creating and maintaining protection and control documentation
  • Assist assigned project lead with field assignments
  • Install, program, and maintain protection and control relays and devices
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends and practices

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4 year BS Engineering Degree (Electrical Preferred)
  • 0-3 years experience in Engineering or similar role
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and HMIs
  • Experience with AC and DC systems
  • Successful candidate must live within a reasonable commute to the assigned office location.
