Company-wide, J-U-B has an experienced team of certified planners (long range as well as land development), landscape architects, GIS professionals, transportation and environmental planners, that work on a wide variety of projects across several Western states. This position requires an individual who is excited to be part of a high performing team and has a strong desire to support and lead a broad range of projects throughout the region. This position is intended to directly grow planning services for communities within Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho.


What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Collaborate, provide internal support, and work efficiently as a team with project managers, planners, public involvement specialists, engineers, and other disciplines within J-U-B. 
  • Lead planning projects and project teams. Manage scope, schedule, and budget for planning projects and clients.
  • Research, analyze, and prepare comprehensive/general plans, subarea plans, transportation plans, and other land use plans, master plans, and plan or code amendments.
  • Conduct research involving a wide range of topics to support planning and development projects, including collecting, tabulating, analyzing, and interpreting statistical and factual data. 
  • Support on-call planning services including review of land development proposals for consistency with all relevant plans, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Meet and/or facilitate technical and citizen advisory committees to present, discuss or formulate policy recommendations and/or plan development.
  • Present effectively to public planning committees and commissioners, as well as local decisionmakers.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate designations for future land use using zoning and subdivision maps, transportation systems, and other related maps and documents.
  • Prepare proposals for planning projects, create technical approaches, scopes of work including cost proposals, and evaluate specific contract provisions.
  • Maintain a positive attitude of cooperation in the performance of work assignments, including adaptability, flexibility, and proactive engagement.
  • Lead business development efforts in the region for both long- and short-range planning services. Assist with business development efforts company wide as requested.
Requirements:
  • Lead Planner: 8+ years of experience, AICP required, experience leading projects and teams
  • Senior Planner: 15+ years of experience, AICP required, experience leading projects, teams, and/or project management
  • Bachelorโ€™s or masterโ€™s degree in planning, geography, community development, landscape architecture, or related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Utah State land use law
