Job Description:

This is a FEDERAL GRANT FUNDED position and is subject to available grant funds.

The ADAP Pharmacist provides clinical, operational, and programmatic support to the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) and the ADAP Contract Pharmacy (ACP) Network. This position ensures compliance with federal and state requirements, supports high-quality HIV and Hepatitis C medication management, and contributes to program monitoring, reporting, and continuous quality improvement efforts. The role also supports data management and reporting functions related to the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Part B Program.

NOTE: we do not write or dispense prescriptions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide HIV and Hepatitis C medication management training and educational resources for the ADAP Contract Pharmacy (ACP) Network

  • Oversight and monitoring of daily ADAP pharmacy operations for the ACP Network.

  • Oversight and monitoring of ADAP contract pharmacy network audits and visits to review contract compliance including antiretroviral therapy management and dispensing.

  • Assist with Pharmaceutical-related system improvements of ADAP and the ACP Network.

  • Provide pharmacy expertise and TA to the Office of HIV/AIDS, ADAP, Part B subrecipients and others.

  • Oversight operations of the management of 340B purchased pharmaceuticals in the areas of drug storage, handling, distribution and documentation in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Coordinate and facilitate the Georgia ADAP Advisory Committee (AAC).

  • Develops, implements and evaluates the surveillance of drug utilization review process for the ADAP Advisory Committee (AAC) for ADAP formulary maintenance.

  • Monitors and analyzes the data management and quality assurance functions for Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) monitoring, ADAP pharmacy reporting, OPA website and pharmaceutical purchases.

  • Participate in the review of HIV nurse protocols.

  • Participate in the DPH Viral Hepatitis Elimination Workgroup.

  • Assist with CQM-related reports and assignments as indicated.

  • Assist with development and/or revisions of HIV related medication guidelines.

  • Attend educational conferences or other events sponsored by HRSA, DPH, GA AETC, professional organizations, or other appropriate sponsoring organizations to maintain current knowledge of HIV clinical practice and/or clinical quality management.

Address ADAP Program Issues such as:

  • Payment issues

  • Internal Contract Issues

  • Drug account contracts

  • Account set ups for districts and for the state for vendors

  • Drug shortage

  • Billing issues for pharmaceuticals at the districts

  • 340B issues

Preferred Qualifications:

Six months of professional pharmacology experience in HIV/AIDS clinical care, public health pharmacy, or a related field.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate or professional degree in pharmacology from an accredited college or university, a current Georgia license to practice pharmacology, and six months of professional pharmacology experience or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Pharmacist 1 (HCP150) or position equivalent.
