Overview

Tier4 Group is partnering with a nationally recognized organization to identify a Payroll Supervisor to lead payroll operations within a high-volume, multi-state environment. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys leading a team, improving processes, and ensuring accurate and compliant payroll execution.

The Payroll Supervisor will oversee a team of payroll professionals while partnering across the organization to support payroll accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. This individual will play a key role in maintaining strong payroll practices, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and support a payroll team while fostering a collaborative and accountable environment.
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across multiple states.
  • Review payroll results, identify discrepancies, and ensure issues are resolved prior to final processing.
  • Provide guidance and support on payroll-related questions, system issues, and process improvements.
  • Maintain payroll policies, procedures, and documentation to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Support payroll tax activities, including reconciliations, reporting, quarterly filings, and year-end processes.
  • Partner with internal teams and external providers to research and resolve payroll tax inquiries.
  • Assist with payroll-related audits, including benefits, retirement plans, and compliance reviews.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems, and workflows.
  • Serve as a backup resource to the Payroll Manager and broader payroll team as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3+ years of progressive payroll or accounting experience.
  • Experience leading or mentoring payroll team members.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processing, payroll compliance, and payroll tax requirements.
  • Experience supporting multi-state payroll operations preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Ability to manage confidential employee information with discretion.
  • Experience with UKG (UltiPro) and/or Workday is a plus.
