Job description

Do you enjoy working outdoors, serving citizens, and are seeking seasonal employment? The Portage County Parks Department has a Seasonal Assistant Park Manager available! This position is available immediately and may work through the end of October. This position will work 20 - 40 hrs / week.
Starting pay is $18.03 / hour
Below are the main job responsibilities:
  • Performs park clean up and custodial duties at various parks and other areas as assigned.
  • Picks up litter and garbage by hand. Cleans park buildings including toilets, showers, open and enclosed shelters, nature center and storage areas.
  • Mows and trims grass by hand and machine. May assist with seasonal mowing and maintenance projects at any park.
  • Collects fees, enforces park rules and regulations and provides park users with information and aid.
  • Collects fees for camping lodge rentals, firewood, dump stations.
  • Enforces the park ordinance and other park rules and regulations and provides information and emergency first aid to park users.
  • Performs maintenance and repair projects under the supervision of the park manager.

These are the skills we are seeking:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior park experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be 18 years old.
