Position Summary
Responsible for performing the required custodial activities necessary to maintain the interior and exterior cleanliness, safe operation, and ensure proper presentation and public image of the SCC facility. Works closely with Set-up Attendants and on-call Setup Attendants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Collect trash from receptacles within and outside of the facility and dispose into the appropriate collection equipment. Transport collected trash to the appropriate area and dispose into the compactor, recycling bins and/or other appropriate containers
  • Provide on-going custodial cleaning and maintenance of the facility during the course of SCC events
  • Perform established "Custodial Cleaning Routines" as assigned by the Operations Manager, Operations Supervisor, or Custodial Crew Chief
  • Operate electrically or fuel motorized equipment including but not limited to non-self-propelled and self-propelled hand vacuum cleaners; pallet jacks; backpack blowers/vacuum cleaners; self-propelled scrubbers, buffers, carpet cleaners; walk-behind/riding sweepers, scrubbers, and forklifts
  • Transport and/or use non-motorized equipment including but not limited to mop, cart, push broom, butler and broom, spray bottles, aerosol cans, rags, rolling trash cans up to 4 cubic yard size, keys, personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, dust masks, goggles, utility tongs and hard hats
  • Perform all assignments with attention to the safe operation of equipment and use of the supplies, especially as it relates to the safety of self and others working within the immediate area
  • Immediately report all accidents/incidents to the Custodial Crew Chief or Operations Supervisor, or in their absence, security control, and complete all necessary paperwork
  • Exercise proper storage and care of the facility's and client's tools and equipment. Immediately report any defective, or malfunctioning equipment to a Custodial Crew Chief or Operations Supervisor. Keep all storage and equipment areas in a clean and neat condition
  • Assist in the removal of snow and ice using snow/ice removal plan
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance and uniform. Carry at all times the required equipment and personal protective equipment
  • Respond to questions from visitors, other SCC departments and client sub-contractors and provide appropriate information/directions in a patient, efficient and courteous manner
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Effectively use a two-way radio and maintain current knowledge of appropriate use of the radio, as well as all SCC radio codes and the related FCC regulations
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the facility, including but not limited to the location of meeting rooms, restrooms, storage areas and emergency exits
  • Follow instructions, perform tasks as directed, remain in assigned areas and maintain communication with Leads, Crew Chiefs and/or Supervisor throughout the work shift
  • Perform all duties as a team member, in a professional productive manner, and in accordance with the Quality Service Plan to ensure the successful operation of the SCC
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of and successfully perform all duties, responsibilities and department procedures in a calm, professional, safe, and effective manner
  • Perform the necessary regular duties to ensure the proper general maintenance to the interior and exterior areas of the facility, including the restocking of supplies, cleaning public restrooms and vacuuming
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as directed by Director of Operations, Operations Manager, Operations Supervisor or Crew Chief

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, for limited periods of time or in specific locations, the noise level may be loud. The employee must be able to work shifts that may be during the day, evening, night, weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of one year experience in custodial and/or event cleaning activities
  • Valid CPR and Basic First Aid certification
  • Blood Borne Pathogen (BBP) Training

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with GBAC STAR Accreditation and other cleaning, disinfection, and disease prevention programs
