What you will be doing:

  • Primary responsibility for hiring and managing the dispatcher role.
  • Has direct reports and is responsible for supervisory duties and/or has significant input in employment decisions, such as: hiring, firing, training, coaching, directing and evaluating the work of subordinates, disciplinary action, timekeeping approval, etc.
  • Responsible for accurate daily loadout, including staging freight, verifying manifests, and ensuring trucks are dispatched on time.
  • Assumes management of the daily stand-up with independent contractors, communicating route assignments, service expectations, and safety topics when Assistant Manager is not present.
  • Responsible for dispatch operations throughout the day, tracking routes, escalating exceptions, and maintaining communication with drivers in the field.
  • Provides first-line response to client and customer issues during the operating day, escalating to the Assistant Manager or Senior Manager when required.
  • Oversees contractor end-of-day check-in, including paperwork review, undelivered product reconciliation, and the product returns process.
  • Maintains accurate records in the delivery management platform (e.g., DispatchTrack), including route completion, exceptions, and returns.
  • Assumes management of the operation in the absence of the Assistant Operations Manager or Senior Manager, ensuring continuity of dock, dispatch, and customer service execution.
  • Enforces company and customer policies and procedures, including safety, uniform, and service standards.
  • Responsible for monitoring processes and recommend improvements to the Assistant Operations Manager.
  • May be responsible for the inbound and outbound warehouse operations.
  • Establishes and maintains a strong positive relationship with the client.
  • May make recommendations to management pertaining to related work processes, practices, issue escalation and resolution of issues, etc.

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of related final mile, warehouse, or distribution center experience

  • Prior lead, dispatcher, or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience working with independent contractors or third-party carriers preferred
  • Experience with delivery management or routing software (e.g., DispatchTrack) preferred
  • PC literate with experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
