Job description

Our Transmission group is currently looking to add a Quality Manager to our team, based on-site across Canada.

Reporting to the Quality Operations Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring that Operational Quality is consistently delivered across all Transmission projects and that all aspects of Valard's QMS are implemented effectively from a field perspective. It will aid in the implementation, operation, and maintenance of a Quality Management System that allows Valard to continue to win and successfully execute projects.

Please Note: This is a site-based position, working a schedule of 20 days on / 8 days off with 11 hour days. Projects would be in Ontario and Nova Scotia to start, with other projects across Canada as well. Flights / Accommodations and LOA are provided to qualifying candidates.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Quality Operations Manager with the implementation, operation, and maintenance of an ISO 9001 compliant Quality Management System
  • Assist Project Managers and Construction Managers in optimizing the project Quality budgets by adjusting QA/QC resources as required to ensure the most efficient and effective use
  • Ensure Project Teams are working within Quality Management System Framework and that Quality Programs are established at Project Startup
  • Support and Mentor Project Quality Teams, including performing site visits as required
  • Develop and implement new value-added Quality Initiatives on a project-level
  • Oversee and assist as required in the identification, investigation, and resolution of all nonconformities, ensuring the most cost-effective solutions are implemented
  • Conduct or facilitate the evaluation process of Suppliers
  • Assist in collecting data to evaluate performance of the QMS and ensure Customer satisfaction
  • Develop project-specific audit plans and conduct or facilitate periodic audits
  • Develop and document key internal processes being used on projects to maintain consistency throughout projects
  • Communicate lessons learned among projects and QA/QC personnel
  • Assist with maintaining the Master ITP, creating new quality documents and updating Quality logs and tracking tools
  • Implement Valard's Quality Training Program at the project level and ensure its effectiveness
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers or other external or internal parties on high-level Quality matters
  • Support other groups on technical matters, interpreting specs and regulations or other documents as needed
  • Perform high-level Quality Audits to ensure overall compliance with Valard's QMS and ISO 9001

Requirements

  • 10 years' experience in Construction Quality
  • Proven experience in Quality Control and Quality Assurance (3 years in QA and 4 years in QC)
  • Excellent ability to read, interpret and apply Codes, Standards, Specifications and Drawings
  • Advanced knowledge of Foundations, Transmission / Distribution Lines, including applicable standards which apply (CSA, ASTM, etc.)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Senior field supervisory experience (must have supervised field teams of minimum 10 people in the past)
  • Extensive knowledge of Quality Management Systems, specifically ISO 9001
  • Able to maintain traceability of complex documentation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Skills / Qualifications

  • Professional certification (Journeyperson, C.E.T, E.I.T, P.Eng. etc.)
  • Experience using MS SharePoint
