They are seeking a Director of Operations / Director of Special Projects to lead high-value projects, oversee special initiatives, and support the continued growth of the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior construction leader who enjoys a mix of operational leadership, client management, project oversight, and team development.

About The Role

As Director of Operations / Director of Special Projects, you will oversee complex projects from preconstruction through completion while providing leadership to project management, estimating, and field operations teams.
You will play a key role in improving operational performance, managing strategic projects, supporting business development efforts, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest standards.
This position is ideal for a construction executive with experience leading teams, managing complex commercial or federal projects, and driving successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee special projects and complex construction assignments from concept through completion
  • Manage project teams including Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, and estimators
  • Provide leadership on project strategy, execution, scheduling, and financial performance
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasting, WIP reporting, and overall profitability
  • Support preconstruction efforts including estimating, proposals, and client presentations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
  • Assist with contract negotiations, risk management, and project delivery strategies
  • Develop and implement operational processes to improve efficiency and project performance
  • Mentor and develop construction professionals while building a high-performing team environment
  • Identify opportunities for business growth and improved client satisfaction
What They’re Looking For
  • 15+ years of progressive construction experience with leadership responsibility
  • Proven experience managing complex commercial, institutional, or government projects
  • Background as a Project Executive, Director of Special Projects, Operations Manager, or similar leadership role
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, contracts, scheduling, and financial controls
  • Experience managing project teams and multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build long-term relationships
  • Experience with design-build, negotiated projects, and federal work preferred
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
