Job description

We are seeking an Assistant Housekeeping Manager to provide overall support to the operations of the housekeeping department. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager coordinates activities of housekeeping team members and inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure quality standards are achieved.  The ideal candidate will also have proven comfort and experience to interact effectively with all levels of management, employees, and guests both inside and outside of the organization.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and heart of the house for cleanliness
  • Train, motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline staff members
  • Maintain a regularly scheduled cleaning program
  • Maintain supply and linen inventories
  • Update room statuses in the computer
  • Ensure housekeeping requests from guests or management are responded to in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner.

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least two years housekeeping experience, and one year supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in union environment strongly preferred. 
  • Fluency in the English language is required. A second language strongly preferred. 
  • Must have a flexible schedule and ability to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have exceptional guest service skills and can communicate well with all guests.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks in a busy environment and remain flexible.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift, reach, bend, stoop, stand and walk continuously, climb stairs, and push or pull heavy equipment
  • Push, pull and/or lift fifty (50) pounds maximum.
  • Stand and walk for varying lengths of time, often long periods
  • Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling.
