The Nutrition Assistant represents Food and Nutrition Services by delivering multidisciplinary scope, including food and nutrition services, linen, laundry services, housekeeping, and supply management. The Patient Ambassador operates TUG robots for the delivery and exchange of supplies and patient meals to the nursing unit. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.Position Details:
Nutrition AssistantOverview

At Mercy, the Nutrition Assistant plays an important role in supporting patient care through food and nutrition services. This position is responsible for delivering meals, snacks, and nutritional supplements, managing supplies and inventory, and helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. The Nutrition Assistant also operates TUG robotic delivery systems and works closely with nursing units and other departments to ensure excellent service and patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient meals, snacks, and nutritional supplements accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide excellent customer service while addressing patient needs and concerns.
  • Operate TUG robotic delivery systems to transport meals and supplies throughout the hospital.
  • Inventory, stock, order, and distribute supplies as needed.
  • Label and rotate food products following FIFO (First In, First Out) guidelines.
  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitation duties in accordance with department standards.
  • Utilize department technology and software to support daily operations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental activities.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in food service, healthcare, hospitality, or customer service preferred.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer and technology proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, push, and pull throughout the workday.
