Job description

Inova Schar Heart and Vascular, in partnership with Selma, is seeking an experienced, board-certified/board-eligible non-invasive cardiologist to join a full-time clinical practice at the Selma Heart Center in Winchester. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to high-quality cardiovascular care in the region. The incoming physician will play a key role in growing robust clinical practice while serving a rapidly expanding patient population.

Selma Medical Associates (SMA) has provided trusted, expert primary and specialty medical care to the Northern Shenandoah Valley since 1975. SMA is a 25-provider multidisciplinary practice that provides more than 60,000 patient visits annually and is located in Winchester, Virginia. The four divisions of SMA include internal medicine, family practice, infectious disease, and cardiology. SMA has extensive experience with clinical research, houses its own blood lab, and offers an Acute Care Clinic. SMA is a leader in value-based care and has a proven track record of improving care outcomes while lowering costs. A key focus of our growth isthe Selma Heart Center.

SMA leadership has decided to "reinvigorate" its cardiology division by establishing the Selma Heart Center (SHC). The SHC will increase access to timely, lower-cost, and high-quality cardiology care throughout the community. SMA seeks to foster seamless care for its primary care patients who require cardiology care, and the SHC is expected to be a magnet practice that attracts community support and partnerships with other independent practices throughout Shenandoah Valley. The SHC is staffed by a combination of SMA (2.8 FTEs) and Inova (1.5 FTEs) Cardiology providers. We are actively recruiting a non-invasive cardiologist with expertise in nuclear cardiology. SHC provides a range of cardiovascular diagnostic tests and will open an outpatient-based lab (OBL) in Summer 2026. The SHC has an ambitious 2030 Heart & Vascular Vision, and we are seeking providers who share our values and commitment to help us translate our strategic goals into operational reality.

The Physician is responsible for providing quality medical care and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. This role will also be responsible for conducting comprehensive medical exams, making diagnoses, developing treatment plans, and providing education and guidance to patients on disease prevention and management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution.

  • Experience: successful completion of Internal Medicine residency program and a Cardiology fellowship.

  • Licensure: Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia.

  • Certification: Board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular disease, and Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start.

  • Payer Credentialing: Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor

  • Medical Staff Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services
