Position: Audio Engineer

Location: Granite Bay Campus

Reports to: Production Managerย 

Job Status: Full-time


The Audio Engineer provides technical leadership, creative execution, and system oversight for all live audio environments. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining a consistent standard of audio quality across worship services, conferences, midweek ministries, and special events.

The Audio Engineer collaborates closely with Worship and ministry teams to translate creative vision into clear, engaging, and distraction-free audio experiences. This role oversees the operation, maintenance, and development of audio systems while recruiting, training, and developing volunteer audio teams according to the standards and procedures established by the Production Director.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide audio leadership and oversight for the main auditorium and auxiliary venues.
  • Mix and oversee live audio for weekend services, conferences, and special events.
  • Establish and maintain audio standards and consistency across production environments.
  • Partner with Worship teams to translate creative vision into excellent live audio experiences.
  • Prepare audio systems, consoles, show files, inputs, routing, and infrastructure for services and events.
  • Manage and troubleshoot audio consoles, wireless systems, Dante networks, playback systems, communication systems, and associated audio infrastructure.
  • Oversee audio system maintenance, documentation, infrastructure planning, and long-term system improvements.
  • Coordinate RF systems and wireless frequency management for services and events.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and develop volunteer audio engineers and production team members.
  • Develop volunteer engineers to confidently operate audio systems while maintaining established production standards.
  • Manage volunteer schedules to ensure adequate audio coverage for services and events.
  • Collaborate with Production staff and ministry partners to create cohesive, intentional show experiences.
  • Assist with church-wide events and productions as directed by the Production Director.
  • Steward audio equipment, resources, and production spaces with a high level of organization and care.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.

Requirements

Primary Strengths/Gifts/Education

  • Advanced live audio mixing skills in complex worship, broadcast, or live production environments.
  • Strong understanding of musical mixing, dynamics, EQ, effects, and overall mix balance.
  • Strong understanding of audio signal flow, system architecture, gain structure, and audio networking.
  • Experience with Yamaha mixing consoles and large-format audio systems.
  • Working knowledge of Dante and networked audio workflows.
  • Working knowledge of wireless microphone and RF coordination.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across audio systems and signal paths.
  • Ability to translate creative and musical vision into engaging live audio experiences.
  • Strong attention to detail with an ear for consistency and audio quality.
  • Strong leadership ability with experience developing volunteer teams.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, decisive, and solution-oriented in live show environments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in professional live audio, broadcast, church production, or related environments.
  • Demonstrated experience mixing live music in complex production environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex audio systems.
  • Experience leading and developing teams in a church or live event environment.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced environments with changing needs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with worship leaders, musicians, ministry leaders, staff, contractors, and volunteers.
  • Alignment with the mission, vision, and core values of the church.

Time Commitment

  • Full-time, includes weekends, evenings, and holidays


Portfolio Requirement

Applicants should submit examples of past work that demonstrate their experience and capabilities in live audio production. We'd like to see:

  • Recorded examples of live mixes from worship services, concerts, conferences, or other live events.
  • Examples that demonstrate the ability to mix full bands, vocals, spoken word, and dynamic live environments.
  • Links to services, events, or productions where you served as the primary Front of House Engineer or held significant audio responsibility.
  • Examples of audio systems, show files, documentation, or technical projects you have designed, built, maintained, or improved when applicable.
  • Any additional work that demonstrates your technical knowledge, musical ear, problem-solving ability, and range as a live audio engineer.
  • Please identify your specific role and responsibilities for each example submitted.
