Description:

EMIC is seeking a skilled and creative Graphic Designer to support the church’s communications team in carrying forward the EMIC brand across digital and print platforms. This role is responsible for creating visually compelling and strategically aligned designs that communicate the mission and vision of EMIC.


The Graphic Designer will develop sermon graphics, slides, web and social media graphics, ministry materials, event graphics, logos, print collateral, and other creative assets that serve the church and its ministries. This position requires a strong understanding of design principles, technical production standards, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced ministry environment while managing multiple projects.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creative Design & Concept Development

  • Generate and present conceptual designs aligned with creative direction provided by the Creative Media Director and ministry leaders.
  • Create sermon series graphics and supporting visual packages (slides, lower thirds, social media graphics, web banners, etc.).
  • Design graphics for online platforms, social media, email campaigns, website, and broadcast needs.
  • Develop logos, branding elements, and visual identities for church ministries, events, and initiatives.
  • Create event signage, badges, ads, environmental graphics, and promotional materials.
  • Design print materials including brochures, flyers, booklets, programs, and ministry resources.
  • Ensure all designs consistently reflect EMIC’s brand standards and visual identity.

Production & Technical Execution

  • Produce and revise web/email graphics, social graphics, slides, ads, mockups, and other marketing collateral based on approved creative concepts.
  • Review file specifications to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with vendor and print standards before release.
  • Review digital and printer proofs for overall printability, including accuracy, clarity, content, registration, and color.
  • Maintain organized working files, templates, and archives for future use.
  • Assist with automation, templates, and scalable design systems when appropriate.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Participate in creative meetings, contributing ideas and innovative solutions.
  • Communicate clearly with ministry leaders and stakeholders to interpret project requirements and creative direction.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships within the department and throughout the church.
  • Present design concepts and articulate creative decisions effectively.
  • Stay current on design trends, software updates, and industry best practices.


Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, marketing, art, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional graphic design experience.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in branding, layout, typography, and digital design.
  • Design experience in church or ministry environment preferred.
  • Experience with four-color print production is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Working knowledge of Canva for templated and quick-turn design projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Knowledge of motion graphics and video editing (Premiere Pro, After Effects) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of design principles including typography, color theory, layout, and composition.
  • Solid understanding of conventional offset print production processes.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard printing practices and prepress standards.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of projects and switch between tasks efficiently.
