Job description

Role Overview:
The Medical Device Training Specialist is responsible for ensuring all manufacturing personnel are assessed, trained, and certified according to specifications and procedures, particularly within the medical device and manufacturing assembly areas. This role involves developing and delivering new training plans, evaluating training effectiveness, and maintaining compliance with quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures all manufacturing personnel are assessed and trained to corresponding specifications/procedures using provided documents, materials, and tools.
  • Executes and/or coordinates training plans for assigned production areas aligned with business goals.
  • Partners with people leaders and management to evaluate the effectiveness of current training practices and identify skill/training needs.
  • Subscribes to training curriculums and applicable documents; maintains knowledge and skills in all production operations within areas of responsibility.
  • Maintains training reports and records (training matrixes, logbooks, reports).
  • Attends production meetings of designated areas regularly.
  • Conducts New Hire Orientation as needed; ensures onboarding curriculum is adequate for new hires.
  • Works flexible schedules occasionally to accommodate training and delivery needs.
  • Knows and complies with all environmental, occupational health, safety, and sustainability regulations.
  • Supports skill development training for production associates by designing content and facilitating training.
  • Complies with all applicable quality management system, environmental, safety and occupational health policies (e.g., ISO 13485, ISO14001 & OSHAS18001).
  • Ensures all personnel required to be certified are appropriately trained, qualified, and certified.
  • Compiles data and materials to support the development of projects, programs, or processes for the Manufacturing Assembly area.
  • Drafts documentation and training materials to support improvements to assembly line operations.
  • Evaluates staff competency with specialized machinery/equipment.
  • Documents and tracks ordering of new machinery/equipment or required training for production and product readiness.
  • Understands and applies Johnson & Johnson's Credo and Leadership Imperatives.
  • Helps establish and implement cost-effective, results-based, and professionally managed Manufacturing Assembly programs.

Required Skills:
  • Associate's degree in human resources, Industrial Engineering, Business Management, or related field, or equivalent training certification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Compliance Wire, and Agile PLM.
  • Excellent English communication, facilitation, content development, and presentation skills.
  • Prior involvement in process improvement, equipment operation, or compliance documentation.
  • Ability to work overtime and varying shifts (e.g., 6am-2:30pm).
  • Works well with diverse teams; willingness to learn, detail-oriented, and a team player.
  • Efficient ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership for problem-solving.
  • Ability to adapt training approaches for different audiences and learning styles.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Creatively develop and deliver new training plans that support business needs.
  • EIS: Medical Device & Regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, with proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to multitask, understand customer requirements, and respond promptly and accurately.
  • Capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex written procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to team goals.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities with sound situational judgment.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in human resources, Industrial Engineering, Business Management, or related field, or equivalent training certification.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing; multi-functional knowledge in various areas of production preferred.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with using Learning Management Systems such as cornerstone, AGILE PLM, MES, and SAP.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in medical device, healthcare, and/or robotics.
  • EIS: Medical Device & Regulations~Training and Development.
