Manufacturing facility in Indianapolis has n opening on their team for a Mechanical Engineering Technologist to support plant operations through hands‑on engineering, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is primarily floor‑based and works closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, safety, and productivity.

Mechanical Engineering Technologist Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a hands‑on engineering resource on the production floor, supporting daily operations and resolving recurring equipment and process issues
  • Lead and assist with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting, including hands‑on repair, testing, and validation
  • Support and troubleshoot equipment utilizing Allen‑Bradley PLC platforms, including basic ladder logic troubleshooting
  • Manage small to medium capital improvement projects, including safety oversight, budget tracking, contractor coordination, and schedule management
  • Oversee Management of Change (MOC) processes for equipment and process modifications in assigned areas
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation such as preventive maintenance work orders, spare parts lists, P&IDs, and equipment documentation
  • Analyze production and equipment performance data to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and operators to drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide regular production updates, project timelines, and status reports to plant leadership
  • Mentor and support operations and maintenance personnel through technical guidance and training
Mechanical Engineering Technologist Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology with 3+ years of industrial manufacturing experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Strong hands‑on experience with industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and working in PLC‑controlled environments
  • Familiarity with Allen‑Bradley PLC systems; basic ladder logic troubleshooting preferred
  • Experience managing capital projects and handling multiple priorities simultaneously
