Their duties often include tasks such as changing oil, rotating tires, performing basic diagnostic tests, and keeping the work area clean and organized. Assistant mechanics also help with parts replacement and learn more complex repairs under supervision. This role serves as a stepping stone for gaining hands-on experience and advancing to higher-level mechanic positions.

What does an assistant mechanic do?

You help with overhauling and replacing major components like transmissions and engines. You are expected to order the required parts and supplies, help load and unload delivery trucks, tow broken-down vehicles, perform welding services, and offer assistance to other crews.
