Job description

WHO WE ARE:
A21 is a nonprofit organization fueled by radical hope that human beings everywhere will be rescued from bondage and completely restored. We are the abolitionists of the 21st century, and we work to free people in slavery and disrupt the demand.
For 18 years now, we've rolled up our sleeves and set our feet to action. Why? Because in a single moment a number can turn into a name, a tragedy into a victory, and a belief into an action.
Freedom. That's our goal for every human being on the planet.
OUR MISSION: Abolish slavery everywhere, forever.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Mass Communications Specialist
At A21, our global Marketing and Communications Team is composed of highly skilled, passionate, and innovative individuals. As a Mass Communication Specialist, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing strategic email marketing campaigns that foster meaningful engagement with our supporters and drive action that creates lasting impact.
We're looking for a creative and analytical thinker who can oversee every aspect of our mass communication efforts. Including, but not limited to: crafting compelling content, optimizing for performance, and ensuring alignment with A21's mission and brand voice. You'll analyze key metrics to refine strategies, personalize outreach, and enhance audience engagement, ultimately strengthening connections with our global community.
If you're passionate about using digital communication to mobilize people toward a future of freedom, we'd love to hear from you.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
EMAIL MARKETING
  • Develop, implement, and manage A21's email marketing strategy to engage, inform, and activate supporters.
  • Build and schedule newsletters, fundraising appeals, event promotions, and supporter journeys.
  • Write compelling, mission-driven email copy that aligns with A21's brand voice and inspires action.
  • Utilize marketing automation tools to nurture supporter journeys and strengthen long-term engagement.
  • Leverage segmentation and personalization to create targeted content.
  • Analyze performance metrics and conduct A/B testing to optimize future campaigns.
  • Monitor deliverability, list health, and ensure compliance with email marketing regulations.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, tools, and best practices to refine A21's email strategy.

COPYWRITING AND CONTENT DEVELOPMENT
  • Craft impactful messaging for email, web, social media, and print materials.
  • Translate complex information into clear and accessible language for global audiences.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create assets that support campaigns, initiatives, and events.
  • Contribute to monthly campaigns, newsletters, blogs, and educational content in partnership with global teams.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT AND TEAM OPERATIONS
  • Assist with team scheduling, meeting preparation, reporting, and documentation.
  • Help manage project management tools and maintain organized systems for tracking campaigns and content.
  • Support research efforts and gather information to inform marketing strategies.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  • Strong copywriting and storytelling skills with the ability to craft clear, engaging, mission-aligned messaging.
  • Experience using email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, HubSpot, or Campaign Monitor.
  • Familiarity with HTML for email formatting and design.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable improvements.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across organizational and geographical boundaries.
  • Strategic, analytical, and systems-oriented thinking.
  • Passion for A21's mission and understanding of nonprofit marketing principles.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Commitment to upholding and promoting A21's values, ethics, integrity, and corporate social responsibility.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in email marketing.
