Job description

Outer Banks Boat Harbor is hiring a hands-on Working Marine Service Manager on NC's Crystal Coast. As an established Yamaha dealership, we are looking for an experienced lead mechanic to manage shop operations, direct daily workflow, and work directly on boats alongside our technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Outboard Diagnostics & Repowers: Troubleshooting, maintenance, and full engine installs (Yamaha, Mercury, Honda).
  • Systems Rigging: Install and service 12V marine electrical systems, PDS units, jack plates, stereos, motor controls, and hardware.
  • Shop Leadership: Oversee daily shop workflow, mentor technicians, and assist on 2-person heavy installs.
  • Customer Support: Write estimates, handle calls, update customers, and secure job approvals.

Requirements (Deal-Breakers)

  • 5+ years of hands-on outboard engine and powerboat service experience.
  • Background with Yamaha, Mercury, or Honda outboards (Yamaha experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, rigging, and troubleshooting.
  • Must own and maintain your own set of professional mechanic hand tools.
  • Comfortable working on boats daily in all weather conditions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 / hour to start (open to re-evaluating for top talent).
  • Benefits: 401(k) with company match & employee discounts on parts.
  • Paid Time Off: Paid holidays + 2 weeks accrued paid vacation (taken in 1-week blocks).
  • Holiday Shutdown: Closed between Christmas and New Year's every year.
