Position Summary
The Assistant Produce Manager supports the Produce Manager in overseeing all aspects of the produce department, including merchandising, inventory control, team leadership, and customer service. This role helps ensure the department maintains high standards of freshness, quality, and presentation while driving sales and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Department Operations
    • Assist in daily operations of the produce department
    • Ensure all products are properly stocked, rotated, and displayed
    • Maintain freshness standards and remove damaged or unsellable items
    • Monitor shrink and implement strategies to reduce loss
  • Inventory & Ordering
    • Support ordering and maintaining appropriate inventory levels
    • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for quality and accuracy
    • Ensure proper rotation practices (FIFO) are consistently followed
  • Merchandising & Presentation
    • Execute sales plans, seasonal sets, and promotional displays
    • Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing displays
    • Ensure pricing, signage, and labeling are accurate and compliant
  • Customer Service
    • Provide excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service
    • Assist customers with product selection, preparation tips, and questions
    • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally
  • Team Leadership
    • Support training, coaching, and development of produce associates
    • Delegate tasks and ensure completion of daily priorities

Qualifications
