Job description

Join our compassionate healthcare team as an Assistant Dietary Manager, where your leadership and nutrition expertise directly enhance residents' health and quality of life. If you're organized, service-driven, and reliable, we want you to support daily operations and ensure high-quality, safe, and compliant meal service. The ideal candidate will monitor meal production, uphold sanitation standards, assist with CMS-related requirements, lead and support staff, and maintain clear communication with the Dining Manager. 
 
Key Responsibilities 
Operations Monitoring (Healthcare Dining) 
Monitor daily meal production and service to ensure quality and consistency 
Direct staff to follow established procedures and schedules 
Verify meals are prepared, plated, and served according to facility standards 
 
Kitchen & Production Oversight 
Support the meal production process from prep through service 
Assist with meal counts, production adjustments, and workflow organization 
Ensure proper labeling, storage, and rotation of food items 
 
Sanitation & Food Safety 

Maintain and enforce sanitation procedures for the kitchen and dining areas 
Ensure correct cleaning schedules for equipment, work surfaces, and restrooms (as applicable) 
Support safe food handling practices and temperature control procedures 
 
Staff Support & Leadership 
  Train, coach, and guide staff to meet performance expectations 
  Provide coverage as needed and support teamwork across shifts 
  Maintain a positive, respectful work environment and support collaboration 
 
CMS / Compliance Support 
  Assist with tracking, documentation, and compliance activities for CMS
  Support required logs, records, and audits 
  Ensure staff follow compliance-related policies and procedures 
 
Computer Literacy & Reporting 
  Use facility systems to enter, track, and update reports 
  Prepare basic reports and documentation for the Dining Manager or leadership team 
  Maintain accurate records (as required by the role) 
 
Communication & Coordination 
  Communicate clearly with the Dining Manager, staff, and other departments 
  Provide timely updates on production, sanitation status, and issues/concerns 
  Support a professional, service-focused approach with residents/patients and families 
 
Other Duties (as assigned) 
  Assist with inventory, ordering support, and daily operational tasks (if applicable) 
  Help ensure the kitchen is inspection-ready 
 
Required Qualifications 
- Experience: At least 2 years' experience in healthcare dining, food service, or kitchen operations preferred 
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with healthcare food service standards and documentation preferred 
- Computer Skills: Comfortable with computers
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills 
- Teamwork: Works well with others; supports leadership and collaboration 
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift [50 lbs] and stand/walk for extended periods 
- Availability: Ability to work required shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
