Apartment Assistant Maintenance Technician – Multifamily

Employment Type: Full-Time
Industry: Multifamily / Apartment Property Management
Position: Assistant Maintenance Technician

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Apartment Assistant Maintenance Technician to join a multifamily property maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional looking to grow their skills and advance within the apartment industry. The Assistant Maintenance Technician will work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and maintenance team to complete resident work orders, apartment make-readies, preventive maintenance, appliance repairs, and general property repairs. The ideal candidate has previous apartment maintenance, make-ready, construction, or related hands-on experience and is comfortable troubleshooting basic maintenance issues while continuing to develop their technical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily resident service requests and maintenance work orders
  • Complete basic plumbing repairs, including toilets, faucets, sinks, garbage disposals, and minor leaks
  • Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install household appliances
  • Assist with HVAC troubleshooting and repairs within applicable certification and experience levels
  • Complete apartment make-readies and vacant unit turns
  • Perform drywall and sheetrock repairs, painting, caulking, and touch-ups
  • Complete basic carpentry and general apartment repairs
  • Replace fixtures, hardware, blinds, locks, and other apartment components
  • Assist with preventive maintenance throughout the community
  • Help maintain common areas, amenities, maintenance shops, and property equipment
  • Identify and report potential maintenance or safety concerns
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in an organized and safe manner
  • Communicate professionally with residents, management, and other maintenance team members
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor and senior technicians with larger repairs and projects
  • Participate in emergency or on-call maintenance when required by the property
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Qualifications Required:

  • Previous hands-on maintenance, make-ready, construction, remodeling, or similar experience
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, appliances, drywall, painting, and general repairs
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop additional maintenance skills
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Professional communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a maintenance team
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, and working indoors and outdoors

Qualifications Highly Preferred:

  • Previous apartment or multifamily maintenance experience
  • Apartment make-ready experience
  • HVAC knowledge
  • Appliance repair and installation experience
  • Plumbing and electrical troubleshooting experience
  • Drywall, painting, and carpentry experience
  • Experience completing resident work orders
  • EPA certification or HVAC training is a plus

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for someone who is hands-on, dependable, mechanically inclined, and eager to grow within apartment maintenance.

The strongest candidate does not need to know everything on day one, but should have a solid maintenance foundation, take direction well, and be willing to learn from experienced technicians.

You should be comfortable working inside occupied apartment homes, interacting professionally with residents, completing physically demanding tasks, and helping the maintenance team keep work orders and apartment turns on schedule.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build their multifamily maintenance career and develop the skills needed to advance into a Maintenance Technician or Lead Maintenance position.

How to Apply:

Please submit an updated resume highlighting your apartment maintenance, make-ready, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, construction, remodeling, or other relevant hands-on experience.

Candidates with previous multifamily or apartment maintenance experience will receive priority consideration.

Apply today for immediate consideration!
