Line Technician IV

Location: Murfreesboro, TN

Department: Production

Shift Availability:

  • 2nd Shift: 2:50 PM – 11:00 PM

  • 3rd Shift: 10:50 PM – 7:00 AM

    (Positions are on fixed shifts, but require flexibility to support either shift as operational needs dictate.)

Position Summary

The Line Technician IV applies seasoned mechanical knowledge and advanced technical skills to troubleshoot complex machinery and deliver rapid solutions that support high-volume production operations. Reporting to the Production Supervisor or Department Manager, you will execute and evaluate technical procedures to ensure strict adherence to quality control, safety protocols, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities

Percentages indicate the estimated time spent on each set of duties:

1. Machine Operation and Setup (50%)
  • Independent Technology Setup: Independently perform technology setups, endorse line clearances, adjust process parameters, and execute timely changeovers for more than 4 distinct technologies within one or more departments.

  • Multi-Technology Monitoring: Monitor and manage multiple automated technologies simultaneously, rapidly executing downtime resolutions as required.

  • System Utilization: Actively utilize the Maintenance Connection program to streamline preventive maintenance schedules and document accurate downtime reporting.

  • Quality Assurance: Promptly address and resolve out-of-specification technology conditions to ensure premium quality output and safe work practices.

2. Troubleshooting and Repairs (30%)
  • Advanced Diagnostics: Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to resolve complex mechanical and operational problems, directly minimizing production downtime and maximizing efficiency.

  • Mentorship & Training: Deliver hands-on training to Line Technicians (Levels 1–3) focusing on safety, quality control, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and basic troubleshooting techniques.

3. Housekeeping, Safety, and Continuous Improvement (15%)
  • Workspace Excellence: Champion rigorous housekeeping activities to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace in strict compliance with cGMP, 5S, and safety guidelines.

  • Safety & Lean Initiatives: Assist in implementing plant-wide safety initiatives and actively participate in continuous improvement/lean manufacturing projects.

4. Additional Duties (5%)
  • Support fixed production shifts, with the flexibility to adjust schedule or assist other shifts as operational needs dictate.

Position Requirements & QualificationsMinimum Education & Certifications
  • Technical Training: Industrial Maintenance Certificate and/or Mechatronics Technology Certificate, OR 3+ years of equivalent, hands-on industrial mechanical experience.

  • Precision Measurement: Basic proficiency in applied math skills with a proven ability to accurately read micrometers, calipers, and rulers.

  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in speaking, reading, comprehending, and writing in English.

Professional Experience
  • Industry Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of experience in a high-volume, machine-paced manufacturing environment.
