Job description

Alexa+ is Amazon's next-generation AI-powered personal assistant, built on large language models to deliver natural, conversational, and context-aware experiences for hundreds of millions of customers worldwide.
We are looking for an experienced, generative AI-savvy Software Development Manager to lead a team building AI-powered customer experiences and the backend systems that power them. In this role, you will partner with teams across Alexa to tackle complex technical challenges, drive innovation, and deliver experiences that redefine what a personal assistant can do.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a team of software engineers responsible for developing, maintaining, and operating software systems at scale, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Champion the adoption of generative AI technologies to drive productivity gains, accelerate time to market, and position the team at the forefront of innovation.
- Advocate for engineering and operational excellence by setting high standards for code quality, reliability, system performance, and on-call practices.
- Establish and maintain a consistent project management framework and development processes that enable rapid, iterative delivery of high-quality software.
- Define and communicate a clear team vision, charter, and roadmap that aligns engineering priorities with organizational goals and contributes to annual planning cycles.
- Create audit mechanisms and metrics to track team performance, explain variance against goals, and continuously improve customer experiences.
- Mentor and develop engineers at all levels, providing guidance on technical growth, career development, and leadership, while identifying and clearing roadblocks to their success.
- Partner cross-functionally with product, design, and business stakeholders to align engineering priorities with customer needs and organizational goals.
