Job description

Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 currently has an opening for an English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher. The goals of this position are to provide resource and diagnostic services and instruction in English language development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
 



  • Effectively implement the course of study that supports the State Standards
  • Screen all students entering with other language backgrounds
  • Plan and deliver English language development programs for eligible students
  • Assess the progress on a regular basis and provide progress reports as needed
  • Confer with parents and teachers concerning individual students
  • Assist the diagnostic teams to help determine the needs of the students
  • Consult with classroom teachers regarding curriculum modifications necessary to meet the needs of the second language learner
  • Maintain records on program students
  • Maintain and improve professional competencies by attending workshops and conferences
  • Attend staff meetings at building and district level; serve on district committees as needed
  • Assist in curriculum planning and instructional delivery as needed
  • Provide staff development and parent education based on building and district needs


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
  • ESL or ENL endorsement or ELS-TBE (K-9)


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and lifting equipment and materials
  • Demonstrate high levels of flexibility, interpersonal communication skills, articulation, concentration, confidentiality and organization
