Assistant Kitchen Manager – Bryn Mawr, PA

We’re seeking an experienced, hands-on Assistant Kitchen Manager to help lead back-of-house operations for a growing fast-casual café in Bryn Mawr, PA. If you’re passionate about food quality, team development, and running a tight, efficient kitchen, this AKM role is for you.


As Assistant Kitchen Manager, you’ll support the Kitchen Manager/GM in owning daily BOH execution from open to close. You’ll help ensure consistent food quality, efficient execution, and strong cost controls while upholding the highest standards for food safety, cleanliness, and consistency. This is a hands-on leadership position essential to delivering great food every day.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support hiring, training, scheduling, and coaching of BOH team; help foster a positive, accountable culture
  • Assist with daily kitchen operations, line execution, prep, and station coverage
  • Help manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and vendor relations; control COGS, waste, and portions
  • Uphold food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards; ensure DOH compliance across all shifts
  • Maintain equipment, organization, and readiness of the kitchen
  • Execute recipes and SOPs to spec and support retail kitchen production
  • Step up to lead shifts and close out daily operations in the KM's absence

Qualifications

  • 1+ years in a kitchen leadership role – Lead Cook, Shift Lead, AKM, or KM in fast-casual, café, or full-service restaurant
  • Hands-on experience with prep, line cooking, inventory, and ordering systems
  • Understanding of cost controls, food safety, and DOH/sanitation practices
  • Strong work ethic, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to coach, motivate, and hold a team to high standards
  • Availability for days, weekends, and holidays required – No late nights
