Job description

Position Summary: Certified Nursing Assistant assists providers, nursing and the director to ensure the processes for the clinic run efficiently. This position is responsible for taking vital signs, routine lab testing performed at the RHC, stocking supplies, completing registration process, updating and collecting patient information, answers phones, schedules appointments, receives co-pays and ROA's. This position also provides clerical and receptionist support, including but not limited to answering phones, scheduling appointments, compiling and maintaining various records.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, organize, execute, and maintain the patient, nurse and provider flow for daily office.
  • Maintains patient exam rooms, stocking, and cleaning equipment.
  • Collects patient identification and demographics, HIPAA forms, insurance information, collects co-pay.
  • Documents indicated signs/symptoms and consent for treatment.
  • Completes and maintains the registration process.
  • Schedules appointments, tests, and procedures.
  • Sends patient communication regarding appointments/tests/procedures.
  • Answers phone, screens and directs callers, retrieves records from previous EMR.
  • Prepares and maintains files/scans records.
  • Maintains a cash drawer, including co-pays and paid-on-accounts.
  • Verify & maintain insurance authorization.
  • Assists with other front office duties.
  • Cleans and returns all equipment to the proper storage area, removes any non-functioning equipment and reports appropriately.
  • Maintains patient exam rooms, prepping and cleaning between patients, stocking supplies.
  • Completes and maintains all MSP, Kancare eligibility, VA registration.
  • Perform and documents vital signs, height and weight.
  • Maintain a positive work environment with all staff to ensure all staff complete job duties efficiently and in a respectable manner.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant Training program.
  • Knowledge of general nursing assistant functions.
  • Current nursing assistant certification in the State of Kansas
  • BLS certification required or must complete BLS certification within the first two weeks of employment.

Infection Control: Initial and Ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Training could include, but is not limited to, blood-borne pathogens, bodily fluids and bio hazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment.
Patient Interaction: Frequent
HIPAA: This position will have access to the following Protected Health Information in order to carry out the duties related to their position at Hays Medical Center based on the following criteria:
Primary - required (routine) to do the job;
Secondary - required for the job, but mostly be exception; and
None - no approved access
