Position: Structured Cabling Technician Level 1
Location: New York 10016
Shift: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
Rate: $24-$27 hourly
Duration: 12 month contract + extensions
Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Structured Cabling Technician for one of our largest healthcare clients. This individual will be responsible for day-to-day cabling requests, including patches, moves, adds, and changes, to meet service goals and support the enterprise user community. They will manage service requests, incidents, and tasks through the ITSM tool (Heat/Ivanti), assess requirements, obtain pricing from certified vendors, coordinate chargebacks according to policy, and schedule and execute cabling requests across both hospital and off-site locations.
This individual will also assist with monitoring and managing BDF/IDF closets, including maintaining cleanliness, cable management, power and cooling conditions, and adherence to best practices and standards. A key responsibility will be proactively identifying risks to service and escalating issues to the appropriate teams for remediation.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Triage daily tickets and schedule related work
- Assemble work order packages for cabling vendors
- Manage work orders through completion and closeout
- Provide troubleshooting assistance and emergency support
- Support and resolve technical issues related to devices managed in Technology Rooms (in partnership with the Data Center Operations team)
- Assist with vendor access and supervision
- Manage and maintain secure access to Technology Rooms
- Manage inventory of assets within IDF/BDFs and data centers
- Maintain and update rack elevations
- Support device management through monitoring tools and automation where possible
Required Skills & Experience
- At least 1 year of experience in a Structured Cabling position within an enterprise environment
- Working knowledge of BICSI standards and their practical application
- Basic understanding of copper and fiber patching and cabling schemes
- Strong technical skills with basic networking and desktop systems
- Knowledge of power (UPS systems) and cooling systems as they relate to IT support environments
- Prior experience supporting change management activities (shutdowns/service-impacting events)
