Job description

Schylling is an award-winning toy company that has been putting smiles on the faces of children, and children-at-heart, for over 50 years. We are in a historic old mill in the charming and idyllic New England town of North Andover, MA. 

The Inventory Allocation Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing inventory allocations within NetSuite to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders. This role serves as the central point of coordination between Sales, Purchasing, Operations, Customer Service, and the Warehouse team to balance inventory availability, incoming purchase orders, and customer demand.

The ideal candidate has strong NetSuite experience, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to make informed allocation decisions in a fast-paced environment. This person will proactively communicate shortages, risks, and fulfillment impacts while ensuring inventory is allocated according to company priorities and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Manage daily inventory allocations within NetSuite across sales orders and purchase orders. 
  • Reallocate inventory between customer orders based on availability, priority, ship dates, and business needs. 
  • Monitor incoming purchase orders and allocate inventory appropriately upon receipt or expected arrival. 
  • Review backorders, shortages, and supply constraints to minimize fulfillment disruptions. 
  • Partner closely with Sales, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Operations teams to prioritize inventory allocation decisions. 
  • Proactively communicate inventory shortages, delayed shipments, and allocation issues to internal stakeholders. 
  • Ensure accurate inventory commitments and order statuses within NetSuite 
  • Identify and resolve allocation discrepancies, fulfillment conflicts, and system issues.
  • Maintain reporting related to allocations, backorders, fill rates, and inventory availability. 
  • Support continuous improvement of allocation processes and operational workflows. 
  • Assist in developing inventory prioritization rules and allocation best practices. 
  • Work with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment execution. 

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Required: 2+ years of hands-on NetSuite experience.
  • Strong understanding of inventory allocation, sales orders, purchase orders, and fulfillment workflows within NetSuite.
  • Experience managing inventory in a distribution, wholesale, consumer products, or supply chain environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination abilities.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure with limited inventory availability 
  • Experience in toy, gift, consumer goods, wholesale, or distribution industries, preferred
  • Understanding of inventory planning, forecasting, and supply chain operations, preferred 
  • Ability to work on-site 3 days per week

The base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000. Offered base compensation within this range will be determined based on a candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographic location and other factors relevant to the scope and responsibilities of this role.
