Position Summary: The Plant Controller is responsible for providing financial leadership and analytical support to plant operations, ensuring accurate cost accounting, inventory control, and financial reporting. This role partners closely with operations and corporate finance to drive performance, maintain strong internal controls, and support informed business decisionmaking.

PRIORITY: Ensure the financial integrity and operational insight of the plant by delivering accurate reporting, effective cost control, and actionable analysis that supports operational efficiency, budget adherence, and continuous improvement.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain inventory control, lead inventory counts and analyze inventory variances for finished goods, WIP, protein and dry goods inventories.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly KPI reports are prepared accurately and distributed timely.
  • Review and analyze plant performance and collaborate with operations teams to establish appropriate corrective actions.
  • Prepare annual budget and analyze performance against budget.
  • Ensure month end tasks are performed on a timely basis and in collaboration with the accounting team at the corporate head office.
  • Manage the review and ERP update of Bills of Material and recipes for existing and new products.
  • Perform regular yield, throughput and variance analysis of products.
  • Ensure disposal process is followed for disposed-of materials.
  • Prepare capital expenditure financial justification to support new assets purchases and provide financial input to post-implementation review of capital expenditures.
  • Maintain internal controls for the safeguarding of company property and other areas as needed.
  • Ensure plant compliance with company-wide administrative policies and procedures in the areas of purchasing, fixed assets, inventory, billing and other areas as required.
  • Support corporate initiatives for value-added management reporting and analysis to support operations decision-making.
  • Administration superuser of ERP, warehouse management and related systems; provide related guidance and support to various administration and operations personnel.
  • Participate in local and company-wide process improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the cost accounting and plant administration team.
  • Other responsibilities as required.
REQUIRED SKILL, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar position.
  • CPA designation.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Business Intelligence software capability is considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong leadership/management skills
