Controller
Job Overview:
The Controller of King Jesus Ministry (KJM) plays a key role in overseeing the finances of the ministry to ensure alignment with our mission of expanding the gospel of Jesus and reaching 1 billion souls. This role will be responsible for monitoring various financial aspects of the Ministry by maintaining, managing, and analyzing financial statements, payroll, budgets, tax compliance issues, and others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of Financial Reporting, Budgeting, Forecasting, P& L, Balance Sheet, GL, AP, AR, Inventory and Fixed Asset reporting.
Manage Review Financial Accounting reports
Report and distribute accurate and timely historical financial information of the Department Directors and Managers.
Maintains a system of internal controls to ensure appropriate securing and use of funds (including assisting external auditors).
Monthly Projects Analysis (expenses vs budget/income generated)
Compliance with taxation/accounting/financial transactions; i.e. 501(c)(3), UBIT, and others.
Provides training for the ministrys department leaders and managers on budgets, procedures, etc.
Monitor compliance with department actuals vs budgets.
Conducts budget variance analysis.
Preparation of financial reports as requested.
Monitor compliance within the finance department on established standard guidelines of the organization, as well as formulate departmental procedures.
Assists with audit preparation as needed
Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may pass independent external audits, and governmental audits if necessary.
Monthly Payroll Reporting in finance software (through payroll upload)
Annual 1099 Reporting Supervision
Assist Financial Director in preparation for board meeting/reports along with Accounting Manager
Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
Local, National and International travel may be required
Any and all other special projects as may be assigned from time to time
Professional Qualifications
Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and organizational skills
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Strong ability to work independently and dive into details with little or no team support.
Fluent in English and Spanish preferred
Education and/or Experience Requirements
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a similar field. Masters degree in accounting or MBA preferred.
A minimum of 5 years experience in the accounting field.
Experience with financial management systems, such as Business Central, Online Banking Platform, etc.
CPA License a plus.
