Role Overview
Reporting to the Company's CFO, the Controller position is a hands-on role, responsible for managing the accounting function, including full-cycle month-end close, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, revenue, COGS, inventory, audit and tax compliance.
The Controller will be responsible for managing the general accounting for the organization, assisting with the creation of financial statements and management reporting, managing the organization's cash, and assisting with the creation of departmental budgets and forecasts. Experience with developing and establishing policies and procedures within a high growth organization is highly preferred.
The position location is ideally located in the San Francisco Bay Area with preference given to candidates close to San Mateo/Peninsula. Candidates in other locations are welcome to apply.

The compensation range for this role is market driven, with a salary range of $190,000 - $240,000. Additionally, we offer a robust benefits package. This offering is aligned with our overall compensation philosophy.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Manage all general accounting functions which includes performing month-end close process, eliminations & consolidations, preparing and booking journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis all in compliance with GAAP.
  • Responsible for AP/AR, Payroll, GL, Cash, Tax and financial reporting functions, managing internal staff and consultants to streamline processes.
  • Partner with CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives. Oversee financial reporting to executive leadership, the board of directors and external stakeholders, providing clear insights into financial performance and business trends
  • Develop and maintain policies to ensure accurate accounting, financial reporting and reliable internal controls; ensure financial integrity through strong controls.
  • Manage annual accounting audits, tax audits, sales & use tax submissions and ad-hoc financial requests and reporting.
  • Build, mentor and develop a high performing accounting team, establishing clear processes and career development pathways.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, quality, regulatory, commercial and executive teams to support business objectives.
  • Create and manage KPI dashboards to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years at the Assistant Controller level and above
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with expertise in GAAP
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry, ideally medical devices, preferred
  • Prior experience with different types of payers including Medicare
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead and develop accounting teams in a growing organization
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvements and scaling accounting operations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities at a time, as well as coordinate with various departments and manage third party consultants
  • Experience with standard software solutions: NetSuite (including ARM and Inventory), Bill.com, Salesforce, Concur, Paylocity preferred
  • Prior public accounting/Big 4 experience is a plus
  • Experience managing Big 4 audits is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Some FP&A background is a plus
