Job description

Executive Assistant Intern

The Civilian Complaint Review Board ("CCRB") is charged with investigating, mediating, and prosecuting complaints which members of the public file against New York City police officers alleging the use of force, abuse of authority, discourtesy, offensive language, untruthful statements made by officers, and racial profiling and biased policing. The Board consists of 15 members who are appointed by the Mayor, the City Council and Public Advocate or designated by the police commissioner. The Board is responsible for governing the agency. The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the agency. The CCRB currently investigates approximately 4,500 complaints each year.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented college student to join our team as an Executive Assistant Intern. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting senior leadership, developing organizational skills, and learning how day-to-day operations run in a professional environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Public Engagement and Partnerships
  • Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate events
  • Assist with email correspondence and draft communications
  • Collect and input data into tracking systems for audits
  • Support special projects as needed
  • Maintain organized filing systems (digital and/or physical)
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and mission of the department/organization
Minimum Qualifications

For Assignment Level I: Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.

For Assignment Level II (Information Technology): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.

For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.

SPECIAL NOTE Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
