Position Information
Position Title Assistant Professor of Engineering Unit Engineering & Physics Job Location Crete, NE (68333) Description of Work
Doane University, a liberal arts university with campuses in Crete and Lincoln, and an Omaha Location, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Engineering with an anticipated start date of August 2026. The selected candidate will join the growing Engineering & Physics department, which offers anABET-accredited Bachelor's degree program in Engineering with specializations in mechanical, civil, electrical, and environmental engineering. Anticipated responsibilities include teaching 21 credit hours per year, supervising engineering design projects, engaging undergraduate students in research, advising majors, and participating actively in the life of the department and university.
Open to all engineering disciplines, although preference will be given to mechanical, civil, electrical, or interdisciplinary engineering candidates that would complement the expertise and talent pool of the current faculty. The ideal candidate will be able to teach core engineering courses required of all engineering majors, physics courses, and emphasis area courses within the candidate's discipline. Candidates with demonstrated teaching and industry experience are particularly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • PhD preferred, but ABD or professional licensure will be considered for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor of Practice
  • At least one degree (undergraduate or graduate) in an engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary engineering environments and engaging in fundamental engineering learning experiences
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in an active learning and teaching environment, value interdisciplinary studies, are committed to teaching a diverse population of students, including students with different perspectives, and are responsive to student needs.
