Reporting directly to the Plant Quality Manager, this position is responsible for identifying, addressing, and reporting defects in the manufacturing process that may cause poor product quality and performing the required inspections, examinations, and or measurements to ensure the highest degree of product quality in daily work operation.
What You Will Do
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
  • Perform incoming inspection for major components and other received material as defined in ITP or relevant receiving inspection plans and record/document verification
  • Assist the inspection team with in-process inspection as defined in the relevant Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and following Compass' Quality Management system requirements
  • Assist in weld visual inspection
  • Assist in Hydrostatic Testing
  • Assist in verifying paint systems for proper preparation and application of coatings in line with Compass standards and/or customer specifications.
  • Assist in final inspection and quality check for assembly units
  • Report and address quality issues related to non-conforming material or components and obtain timely disposition to maintain production flow
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner

Education, Skills and Experience
Your education and experience include:
  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent GED
  • Proficient using complete Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and PC skills
  • Proficient verbal and written communication in English
  • Minimum 24 months of experience performing inspections in natural gas compression fabrication/manufacturing environment preferred
  • Basic knowledge of measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other gages.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical notes, and specifications.

Physical Strain
Include an intro to physical strain
  • Standard Bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting, and reaching will all be required occasionally in this position
  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Lifting 50 pounds maximum with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 30 pounds
  • May be required to work at heights of up to 25 feet
  • Must meet all OSHA regulations and must wear all required PPE when in the shop environment.
