About the roleThe Assistant Director of Industry Affairs fosters strategic alliances and positive relationships with various external entities in the food and agriculture industry beneficial to IFB. Responsible for enhancing communication, advocating on regulatory issues, coordinating programs and strategies, and advancing IFB priorities. The Assistant Director of Industry Affairs also establishes IFB as a leader in bringing the agriculture value chain segments together to address issues and identify opportunities for collaboration on initiatives and policies of mutual interest and benefit. Sometimes performs research, prepares reports, and provides information and counsel to the Board of Directors, relevant committees and other entities, as requested. Also develops and implements strategies and programs to utilize industry alliances to further key organizational priorities. The Assistant Director of Industry Affairs collaborates with internal staff to develop IFB positions on business environment and industry-related issues important to IFB priorities and related communications objectives. Exercises professional leadership by keeping abreast of current trends, issues, developments, and opportunities within field of responsibility. The position may also represent IFB on various boards, committees and/or groups throughout the state, as assigned.How does this role make an impact?- Educates members on issues and regulations within assigned area of responsibility, including planning, developing and executing educational programs for various groups, committees and meetings.- Creates communications and promotional materials to encourage and maximize participation in IFB policy development and issue-based campaigns. - Reviews legislation and regulations affecting assigned areas of responsibility and prepares summaries, position papers, and recommendations relating to IFB policy.- Coordinates all logistical preparations for events and programs, such as identifying physical locations, making site preparations, recruiting speakers, hosting onsite and managing all event/program details.- Performs basic research, prepares reports, and provides information and counsel to the IAA Board of Directors, relevant committees and other entities, as requested.- May represent IFB on various boards, committees and groups throughout the state and/or serve in a director and/or staff capacity for outside affiliated associations, as assigned.- Specific assignments vary by department and may include such responsibilities as marketing and/or fundraising.Do you have what we're looking for? Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education and training. - Normal office environment. - Work may extend beyond normal business hours as business needs dictate, including frequent long workdays.- Regular/frequent travel, including some overnights and air travel, required. Must have the ability to attend relevant meetings and fulfill job responsibilities throughout Illinois.

Base Pay Range:

$74,400-$102,300

The base pay range represents the typical range of potential salary offers for candidates hired. Factors used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, qualifications and experience.

Incentive Pay:

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a Short-Term Incentive plan.
